Letter from the Chairman
THANHKOREA began with something very specific: connecting Korean fruit distributors with banana farmers and cooperatives in Dong Nai. The longer I work in this market, the more I understand: it does not buy “bananas.” It buys a specification held exactly from farm to shelf.
In Korean supermarkets, every hand of bananas sells at the same price. If a carton mixes large hands with small ones, the last hands have to be sold cheap, and the retailer absorbs the loss. That is why our facility has to pack exactly to the specification the buyer needs, and the fruit cannot carry pesticide residue. Both requirements start at the seedling, not at the packing table.
I run the company on one principle: if it is not recorded, it did not happen. Orders, shipments and QC decisions all sit on a single management system. QC has the authority to stop any shipment when it sees a risk, and no one is allowed to pressure them into reversing that call.
We do not publish figures that have not been verified. What I commit to partners is a clear specification before signing, a complete document set for every shipment, and a single point of contact who can respond in Vietnamese, English or Korean.

Stage 2/7Growing regions
Healthy planting material and traceable inputs are the starting point. The quality of a carton of bananas in Seoul is decided from the moment the seedling is chosen.

Seedlings are propagated from disease-free tissue with even growth vigour. A healthier plant means less pesticide through the crop.

Starting with banana farmers and cooperatives in Dong Nai; growing-region and QC staff work in Binh Duong, Binh Phuoc and Dak Nong.

The harvest plan is based on bunch maturity, post-harvest handling and the specification agreed with the buyer.

Bunches are bagged in the field, transported to the packing house, hung on the cableway and washed before the hands are separated.
Stage 3/7Packing & brand
Most of the value of an export banana shipment is created — or lost — at the packing table.

So every carton is sorted by hand size to the buyer's specification before the bag is sealed. It is a small technical detail that decides the next order.
Alongside packing to an importer's own carton and label, THANHKOREA developed the in-house Highland Banana brand: each hand bagged, labelled, packed into 13 kg cartons, and sold to Vietnamese consumers living in South Korea.
Size, grade, ripeness and label language are confirmed per programme.
We focus first on Cavendish banana and expand responsibly across selected tropical fruit.

The regulations every green banana shipment into South Korea must meet.
South Korea's Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) has applied PLS to all agricultural products since 2019: any active ingredient without an established Korean MRL defaults to 0.01 ppm. Pesticide control therefore has to start in the field.

Every shipment needs a phytosanitary certificate issued by Vietnam's plant protection authority, checked by South Korea's quarantine agency (APQA) on arrival.

Green bananas are held at 13–14 °C in the reefer container to avoid chilling injury, and only ripen once they reach the ripening room at destination.

Vietnamese goods entering South Korea can use C/O Form VK (VKFTA) or Form AK (AKFTA) — whichever agreement is more favourable is chosen for each line.
